Depending on your
climate, a heat pump may handle your heating and cooling needs
more efficiently than a separate furnace and air conditioner.
Your heat pump’s energy efficiency is rated in both Seasonal
Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) and Heating Seasonal
Performance Factor (HSPF). SEER measures how efficiently the
unit cools your home while HSPF measures the unit’s heating
efficiency. The higher those ratings are, the more efficiently
the unit performs. |

heat pump is sized and installed properly, you can save 10-40%
on your heating and cooling bills. You can maximize energy
savings by matching your heat pump with a Maytag variable
speed indoor unit, which can increase your system from 13 to
14 SEER, and from 8 to 8.5 HSPF. When you increase the SEER
and HSPF ratings, you use less energy and can increase the
savings on your monthly utility bill.
